Being a student is a unique and unforgettable experience and the memories you make during that time are very likely to stay with you forever – unless you always drink a lot and blackout when something cool happens…
That’s why, as a soon-to-be-ex-student (when did it happen?!) I want YOU – people just embarking on this adventure or those who still have time to lead this lifestyle for a little longer, to be aware of the possibilities you have as the most privileged person ever:
Usually it takes 5 years for an average person to finish the studies and during that time you have a chance to do things that you will not necessarily be able to do in your adult life.
This of course includes getting discounts almost everywhere you go, partying till the morning and getting up late the next day, spending time with your best friends on a daily basis and treating the last night’s pizza as your breakfast.
However, aside from all those great benefits, there is something even more awesome about this period – an abundance of self-development opportunities that only students have time to seize.
Volunteering, participating in students exchanges, traveling, meeting new people, following various passions, broadening your horizons and facing new challenges are just the tip of the self-development ice berg and it is only up to you how many things you will do during your student days.
For me, these are the moments I will remember for the rest of my life. I sure did a lot as a student. But there is one thing I regret – not having done more.
So please learn from my mistakes and do the following things MORE INTENSIVELY:
GO FOR AN ERASMUS EXCHANGE!
not once, like I did, but take advantage of the possibilities the EU gives you and go 4 times! Choose a warm destination and don’t go Bielefeld if you don’t have to 😝
VOLUNTEER IN more than 3 STUDENT ORGANIZATIONS!
( if you are interested in international organizations check out ESN)
GO FOR YOUTH PROJECTS ABROAD
as many times as you can! – you can travel the whole Europe for free ( I went to Cyprus, Slovakia and Warsaw to participate in youth projects) *Not many peeople know about it so if you want to be initiated look for information about Erasmus+ programme 😉
WORK AT A SUMMER CAMP IN THE USA and travel during your free summer!
work as a counsellor or in the kitchen in a place like camp, surrounded by nature and amazing people and decide to do it already during your first summer as a student and not on your last one, like I did.
Check out my video! and get the idea of what I am talking about 😉 -> CAMP AMERICA 2016
Be open for new challenges. Leave your comfort zone. Find yourself.
And be the kind of student that is worth reminiscing about by your future self!
